Greek authorities have launched a manhunt to catch the driver of a vehicle that hit a British couple of tourists in Halkidiki, leaving behind a dead man and an injured woman. Police calls on eyewitness for help to identify the car and the driver.
The traffic accident occurred at 8:30 on Sunday night outside the Aegean Melathron Hotel in Kryopigi in the Kassandra leg of the Halkidiki peninsula.
According to media reports, a vehicle came on high-speed, hit the couple trying to cross the road and fled the scene without halting even for a minute.
The tragedy occurred in front of the eyes of the couple’s children and many visitors in the area.
The 57-year-old British tourist died on the spot, while his 58-year-old wife was injured in the upper and lower limbs. He situation is reportedly not considered as “serious.”
The couple’s children had managed to cross the road before the vehicle hit their parents.
The injured woman was transferred to the Kassandra Health Center and is expected to be transferred to Polygyros Hospital for further examinations.
The British family was in Halkidiki for vacations.

Police is investigating the issue and examines material from security cameras in the area of the accident in an effort to identify the driver through the car’s license plates. Police calls on eyewitnesses who saw the vehicle and the accident to give important information to the Traffic Police in Moudania under phone number <23730-21100>.
