A 4-year-old toddler drowned in a beach of the island of Thassos in Northern Greece on Wednesday.
The little girl was reportedly playing with an inflatable children boat when a wave filled it with water.
The girl drank a lot of water and she was unconscious but still alive when she was pulled out of the sea.
The toddler was intubated and brought to the health center with an ambulance but her heart stopped beating. she was transferred to the General Hospital in Kavala on the mainland where doctors could only confirm her death.
The girl from Romania was having holidays with her parents on Thassos. She apparently had escaped her parents’ attention.
It all happened on Wednesday afternoon at the beach of Skala Sotiros.
The local Port Authority is investigating, an autopsy is due.
