Baz Ashmawy says he is over the moon his hit show Wingman was given the green light for a second series.
The TV presenter (44) is thrilled that the programme, where he helps people fulfil their dreams, has struck such a chord with viewers.
“Early on into the series the guys in RTE were really happy with it so they were like, ‘Let’s just jump the gun and get going on the second series,'” he revealed.
“I think because it’s such a feel-good show, people really connected with it.”
He has now put out a casting call looking for people to take part in the new series and is urging anyone with an unfulfilled dream to get in touch.
“It’s for people who really want to do something and, for whatever reason, they’ve never fulfilled that dream.
“Whether it’s their age or their life circumstances or they never had the bottle to go for it but really deserve good things in their life.
“They’re the kind of people we want to hear from.”
He said the show was unusual in that it was a very time-consuming programme to make, often spending months on one episode – but the result was more than worth it.
“It’s a hard balance to get right between something being overly-worthy or something just being funny and sweet and poignant and it was trying to get that balance right with the show,” he said.
