Na campanha “Men of Manual”, a organização pede que o mercado publicitário substitua imagens irreais de corpos masculinos por representações comuns, uma vez que os padrões só ajudam a prejudicar a saúde mental.

“My name’s James and I’m a celebrity and talent officer for a national charity. I’m from Essex originally, but I live in London. In my spare time, I go out with my friends, drink too much and take pictures for the gram. . I spend so much of my spare time on Instagram banging on about body positivity and inclusivity so to be involved with something like this, made a lot of sense. . My relationship with my body was atrocious. I would always think about how much I hated my body and to get to where I am now, it’s been a real journey. I’m still not 100% there and I even got the fear today, but I find things like this shoot push me out of my comfort zone. . A massive part of all this is changing your mindset. Oito homens foram escolhidos para estrelar a campanha, que inclui o ativista transgênero Kenny Ethan-Jones, o modelo plus size Ben Whittaker e a modelo Bashir Aziz, que tem Vitiligo.

O movimento desafia os estereótipos do físico masculino ideal. Segundo o co-fundador da Manual, George Pallis, a maioria dos anúncios retrata os homens como magros ou fortes, o que é um falso reflexo da sociedade: “Esperamos melhorar o bem-estar mental e físico dos homens em todos os lugares”, diz.
