Dramatic video footage has emerged showing the exact moment a mine dam burst in Brazil, unleashing a deadly wall of muddy sludge.
- Footage shows exact moment dam bursts, engulfing nearby buildings and cars
- Evidence suggests the collapse was caused by liquefaction
- Workers have paid tribute to the 110 victims killed and 238 who are still missing
More than 200 people are still missing and 110 are known to have died in the disaster, which saw parts of the nearby city of Brumadinho drowned under a torrent of waste from the Corrego do Feijao iron ore mine.
The footage shows the entire hillside below the dam collapsing, sending an enormous torrent of red-brown waste hurtling down the valley.
Another angle shows the debris washing over the mine site, with at least one vehicle seen speeding to get out of the way.
A local official said evidence suggested the collapse, at a mine owned by Brazilian company Vale SA, was caused by liquefaction.

A week after the deadly collapse rescue workers paid homage to the 110 victims killed and 238 who are still missing.
Excavators stopped digging in the mud, and rescuers looking for survivors in the thick mine tailings all looked to the sky as 10 fire department and police helicopters released flower petals onto the iron ore mining complex.
An official said authorities were not calling off the search for bodies although no-one had been found alive since Saturday.
Edvan Cristi, 23, who lost several friends who worked for the Vale mining company, said the city would suffer tremendously because most young people worked in mining.
“Everybody, the majority, worked in mining,” he said.
On Friday, operations seemed to enter a new phase as firefighters began excavating the mud with heavy machinery.
So far, efforts have been focused on finding bodies closer to the surface and did not involve excavators.
A march in homage to the victims is expected to take place later on Friday in the centre of Brumadinho.
